Winter Woods & Wildlife Hike

Join the Charlevoix Conservation District, the Walloon Lake Association & Conservancy, & CAKE CISMA for a free, guided hike through a winter wonderland! Discover how local plants & wildlife adapt to the cold and learn how you can help protect our forests by reporting invasive species like Hemlock Woolly Adelgid.

After the hike, take some time to warm up in the barn with a hot beverage and engage in more conservation conversations. Please bring your own reusable mug if possible, as well as snowshoes if you have them. We’ll provide hot water along with a variety of teas and hot chocolate. Be sure to dress warmly, wear sturdy footwear suitable for winter hiking, and get ready to enjoy a stunning winter wonderland. We can’t wait to see you there!

• Date & Time: Saturday, March 1st 1 pm - 3 pm

• Location: Meet at the Postle Farm Trailhead (From US-131, turn onto Country Club Road and follow it around four curves. Preserve will be on the right.)

• Provided: Hot water, tea, and hot chocolate

• What to Bring:

  • Reusable mug (if possible)

  • Snowshoes or winter hiking boots (optional but recommended)

  • Camera or binoculars to capture winter wildlife

  • Warm clothing—dress for the weather and check the forecast in advance

  • Sunscreen for sun protection on bright, snowy days

Accessibility: If anyone in your party requires special accommodations, such as an interpreter or assistance with uneven terrain, please contact CAKE CISMA at least three weeks before the event to discuss arrangements.

Registration: Preferred but not required
