Learn about the importance of native plants and the cold-moist stratification process that many native seeds need to grow. In this hands-on workshop you’ll choose and sow native seeds in containers using recycled materials. Your seeds will spend the rest of the winter outside, then germinate naturally in spring- ready to plant in your garden!

We’ve partnered with the Kalkaska Conservation District to co‑host this event. CAKE CISMA will introduce the Go Beyond Beauty program, a local initiative that celebrates people and professionals who choose non‑invasive, ecologically beneficial plants for landscapes. A choice that helps reduce the spread of harmful ornamental invasive species and support healthier ecosystems.

This workshop is a fun, beginner‑friendly way to get your hands in the soil, add native species to your pollinator garden (or start one!), and learn more about local conservation efforts.
