About the event
Join CAKE CISMA and our partners at Glacial Hills Pathway & Natural Area for our weekly Tuesday Morning Invasive Species Workdays! Throughout the growing season, volunteers help protect and restore local natural areas by removing invasive plants that threaten native ecosystems.
These hands-on stewardship events provide a great opportunity to learn about invasive species, meet others who care about conservation, and make a visible impact on some of our region's most treasured natural areas. Work locations may vary from week to week depending on current management priorities, and activities may include hand-pulling invasive plants, cutting woody invasive species, or assisting with other habitat restoration projects.
The Basics:
CAKE CISMA and Glacial Hills will provide gloves, tools, training, and guidance throughout the morning. No experience is necessary—whether you're a seasoned volunteer or joining us for the first time, we'd love to have your help.
This activity is moderately physical and may involve walking on uneven terrain, bending, kneeling, lifting, and working outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
What should I bring?
• Dress for the weather and outdoor conditions
• Sturdy, closed-toe shoes appropriate for uneven terrain
• Clothes you don't mind getting dirty
• A reusable water bottle
• Sunscreen and bug spray for comfort
• Your favorite pair of work gloves, if preferred
Directions:
Work locations and start times may vary throughout the season and events may occasionally be canceled due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances. The best way to stay informed and receive the most up-to-date details each week is to register through the RSVP link and sign up for email updates.
Registration is appreciated but not required. Any schedule changes, location updates, or weather-related cancellations will be communicated to registered participants via email.
Thank you for helping protect and restore our local natural areas! If you have any questions, please contact Katie Gray at cakecisma@macd.org
