About the event
Help CAKE CISMA and Glacial Hills Pathway & Natural Area bring new life to the Orchard Hills Trailhead with a native garden installation! After years of invasive species removal and recent parking lot improvements, this site is ready for restoration. Volunteers can help prep the site and/or plant native species that support pollinators, birds, and overall ecosystem health. No experience needed, just come ready to dig in and make a difference!
The garden prep and install will occur over the course of multiple days . We're tentatively planning prep on Thursday, June 4th and Friday June 5th with the installation on Saturday, June 6th. Please indicate on the RSVP form which days you're interested in attending to help us plan!
The Basics:
CAKE CISMA and Glacial Hills will provide gloves, tools, and all necessary plants. We’ll guide you through proper planting techniques, plant identification, and the ecological importance of native species. No prior experience is needed—just come ready to dig in and make a difference!
This activity is moderately physical, with volunteers digging, bending, and carrying plants and materials.
What should I bring?
Dress for the weather—check the forecast in advance
Sturdy, closed-toe shoes appropriate for uneven terrain
Clothes you don’t mind getting dirty
A reusable water bottle and snacks
Sunscreen and bug spray for comfort
Your favorite pair of work gloves, if preferred
